The San Diego Chamber of Commerce recently released its survey on “optimism” based upon the feedback of chamber members.  The survey respondents predicted optimism for San Diego business returns for 2017.  The survey asks respondents to rate the current business climate from a score of “100” which means exceptional to “-100” which means dismal, with “0” meaning neutral.  The survey has been quite volatile in 2016 as the winds of change and the swings in the election went back and forth.

Dino D’Auria, executive vice president and chief banking officer at Silvergate Bank, which sponsors the survey, noted “While there are many pressures on businesses going into 2017, this improved outlook is a good indicator that county businesses are prepared for the road ahead.”  More than 50% of the businesses surveyed report their market or industry will improve in 2017.  The number of businesses who plan to either expand workers hours or hire new employees rose by 10% over the previous survey.

The strongest gains came from small and medium-sized businesses.  The Watkins Firm is uniquely positioned to serve San Diego’s small and medium size businesses as they work through the challenges and opportunities for 2017.  We have decades of experience and proven track record advising business owners and San Diego employers as general business counsel.  We help to structure business transactions with well crafted business contracts that increase the likelihood of successful and profitable results.  We help our clients to negotiate the acquisition of competitors or their assets, to ensure maximum opportunity for growth.  We take a unique approach to managing disputes and lawsuits that is designed to resolve them quickly and cost-effectively while protecting our client’s goals and objectives.
